Meet the team
Hi! We're the social media team at WVU. We manage, promote and post on the main social media accounts you know and love. In addition, we develop the goals and strategies on social media across our University. We maintain the social media directory and provide consultation to faculty, staff and students who run social media accounts at WVU, among other duties.
Tony Dobies, Senior Director of Marketing
At WVU, he leads a team of talented social media managers, market researchers, advertisers, marketing strategists and trademark, licensing and brand experts. Together with his team, he creates and manages marketing projects and initiatives to help reach the University's highest goals, especially in regard to recruitment.
Geoff Coyle, Social Media Editor
Geoff Coyle serves as Social Media Editor for West Virginia University. In this role, Geoff and the rest of the Social team work to promote the University's message and image for prospective students, current students and alumni through digital platforms.
Prior to joining the team at WVU, Geoff worked in sports television for West Virginia Illustrated, gaining experience as a host and reporter for various network broadcasts. He continues to dabble in the sports realm as a freelance camera operator and a contributor for Stadium.
A Maryland native, Geoff graduated from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University. He and his wife, Emily, live in Morgantown with their dog, Ruby.
Chris Young, Social Media Editor
Serving as Social Media Editor for West Virginia University, Chris helps to build WVU’s visibility and enhances its reputation through the innovative use of social media platforms, daily posting, management and engagement across all University-wide social media platforms.
Before joining West Virginia University, Chris served as Assistant Director of
Development and Marketing at Davis & Elkins College. He helped create visual
social media content to increase the visibility and scope of the College in turn
boosting recruitment and fundraising.
A native of Cardross, Scotland, Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in International
Marketing at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV.
David Ryan, Social Media & Internet Strategist for WVU health sciences
David Ryan is the Social Media and Internet Strategist for West Virginia University's health sciences schools. In his current position, he creates and develops social media content for the individual schools and the program as a whole.
In his professional carer, David has worked with the Arts & Entertainment department at WVU, as well as the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, where he helped build and grow the social media accounts for both areas.
David has been working with social media since his undergraduate days at West
Virginia University, where he graduated with a degree in news/editorial journalism.
In his role as editor-in-chief at the college newspaper,
The Daily Athenaeum, he helped create and shape its social media.
He also has a bachelor's degree in professional writing and editing and
a master's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications.
Kallie Nealis, Social Media Specialist - Talent & Culture
Kallie Nealis serves as the Social Media Specialist for Talent and Culture at West Virginia University, where she assists in executing the communication initiatives and goals of WVU's human resources department. She enjoys leveraging social media to help keep WVU employees connected to what's going on across the University and to increase the University's online presence among prospective employees.
As a Reed College of Media student, Kallie oversaw several social media accounts throughout her undergraduate career at WVU. She went on to become the Social Media and Marketing graduate assistant at the WVU Visitors Center after completing her bachelor's in strategic communications with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in communication studies.
Upon receiving her Master of Science in journalism from WVU in 2018, Kallie was grateful to continue serving her alma mater by joining the social team.
Rickie Huffman, Social Media Specialist - Admissions
Rickie Huffman is the Social Media Specialist for the West Virginia University Office of Admissions. Rickie creates content around the admissions process including: student fit, applying, special events and all other steps in the process of becoming a Mountaineer.
Before joining the social team, Rickie worked for the WVU Office of Admissions
as a Special Events Coordinator. She spent three years learning about the recruitment
process and how to build events around students’ interests in choosing where
to go to college. Her role in events is what led to her interest in social
media and creating a more robust social presence for the Admissions office.
Presenting the University on platforms where students engage with one another
is the perfect way to introduce, and inform, students about the college going
process and culture.
Rickie has a bachelor's degree in Art History and a master’s in Integrated Marketing
Communications. She is currently working on her Ph.D.
Morgan Goff, Graduate AssistantEmail
Morgan Goff serves as the Graduate Assistant for the WVU Social Media Team. Previously, she worked with the team for two years in her undergraduate career. She aids in managing West Virginia University's accounts across all social media platforms, engaging with users, and developing content to show off our University.
Morgan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from WVU in 2018 and is currently completing her Master of Business Administration. She will graduate in May 2019.
